The Restoration Continues. Part 2.

The Dark Ages were disastrous times for the Church worldwide. For during those days, most Christians had no Bibles in their own language, and there was a lack of apostles and prophets to teach and maintain the foundational teachings. The Church largely abandoned its foundational teachings left to fall into disrepair.

But God had not forgotten his own, and Christ fully intends to return for a bride, his Church, whom he will sanctify and cleanse with the washing of water by the word, That he might present her to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:25-26).

How does Christ sanctify and cleanse the Church his bride for the wedding day? By the washing of the water of the word, which are the teachings of Jesus Christ and the foundational teachings of the Church. For this purpose it was not only necessary for the written word to be restored to the Church, it was also necessary for Christ to restore to the Church the apostles and prophets to repair, restore, relay and teach once again the foundational teachings of the Church. Thus the age of restoration began.
